Poverty Gulch

Slate River Valley

My guess is it's named the Slate River because of all the Slate surrounding it

Danny testing the waters...shallow here, deeper toward the middle but still passable

One of many meadows of wildflowers. Crested Butte is the wildflower capitol of Colorado

Penstemon also known as Snapdragon

My beloved Columbines..they come in all colors...white, blue, purple, yellow, red

This drive and hike was quite an adventure. There is a section of water to cross that at first glance looked a little deep, but Danny waded through the deepest part and determined that it was easily crossable. This drive required a 4 wheel drive vehicle and someone who knew how to handle it. Thankfully, I wasn't driving or we wouldn't have gotten very far. We could see water flowing far away and Danny (aka Captain Adventure) was determined to find it. Find it we did and decided that it is one of our favorite places.
