Hallie at Judd Falls

This little guy was very shy and I only get this shot. Hallie and I really liked his dark brown coat.

We see these rock "sculptures" everywhere. Totally manmade, but fun.

The weather has been gorgeous since Danny and Hallie breezed into town. This was Danny's last day here before he returned to L.P. and he wanted to do a little hiking before he left. With the dry conditions, we weren't sure that we would find water at Judd Falls, but it was still roaring along. Our little chipmunk friends were there and Hallie shared a little of her energy bar with them. After we left Judd Falls, we decided to drive to Emerald Lake which is a road I won't take by myself. It has a spot that's really narrow and only one car can go by at a time. The only problem is that it is on a curve and you can't see who's coming until you are already committed into the curve. If you find yourself meeting another car, someone is going to have to back up and on a curvy narrow surface, that's not fun! We found quite a few people around Emerald Lake and I'm guessing it's because it has a BUNCH of wildflowers there. Also, it was a really pretty area to eat our picnic lunch and the lake truly is emerald green when the sun hits it just right. We left Emerald Lake and walked about 1/2 mile or more up Deer Creek trail before Hallie just needed to call it quits. Danny was pleased to get in a little more hiking and some sweeping views before we returned home. We ate supper at a new for us place in town, The Wooden Nickel. It has really good (although expensive) steaks and great chocolate cake. We will definitely go there again!
